Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Genielist may collect, why we use it, and the choices you may have.

Last updated: 15 June 2026

1. Who we are

Genielist is operated by Genielist.co . For privacy questions, contact us at hello@genielist.co.

2. Information we collect

We may collect account details such as your name, email address, authentication information and profile preferences.

We collect the content you add to the service, including lists, list items, ideas, notes, uploaded images, product URLs, product details, sharing settings, invitation activity, reservations and bought markers.

We may collect technical information such as device and browser data, IP address, log information, error information, security events, cookies and localStorage data.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide Genielist, create and save lists, show items and ideas, manage accounts, support sharing, and let invited people reserve or mark gifts as bought.

We may use product URLs to preview product information, including through scraping or similar tools. Previewed information may be cached to make the service faster and more reliable.

We also use information to improve reliability and security, prevent misuse, fix bugs, understand how the service is used, and send service-related messages such as invitations or account emails.

4. Legal bases

Where data protection law applies, we rely on legal bases such as providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in running and improving Genielist, consent where required for cookies or analytics, and legal obligations where they apply.

5. Sharing information

We may share information with service providers that help us run Genielist, such as hosting, database, authentication, email, analytics, monitoring and security providers. Supabase is used for authentication and database services.

List content may be visible to people who have access to a shared list, depending on your sharing settings and permissions. When you click a retailer link, the retailer may receive information from your browser according to its own policies.

6. Cookies and local storage

We may use cookies and localStorage for authentication, guest list drafts, preferences, analytics and cookie consent. More detail is available in our Cookie Policy.

7. Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide Genielist, maintain records, resolve issues, meet legal obligations, and protect the service. You may be able to delete account or list information through the app, subject to reasonable technical and legal limits.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to, or restrict the use of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where we rely on consent, such as for optional cookies or analytics.

To make a privacy request, contact us at hello@genielist.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Children

Genielist is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Genielist, please contact us.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the service. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please use a strong password and keep your account details safe.

11. International transfers

Some service providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, we aim to use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Genielist develops. The updated date on this page shows when this version was last changed.
